PDF and print-scale validation
Software contract
- PDF page boxes use standard A4 or Letter dimensions.
- Pixels convert through the project’s stored px/mm exactly once.
- Separate trace strokes remain separate vector paths.
- The PNG uses the same center, scale, and rotation as preview.
- Every page labels the calibration source and planar limitation.
- Every export includes final horizontal and vertical 100 mm rulers.
- A selected verified Print Setup applies independent X/Y correction
once in the PDF output transform.
- No-profile output remains unchanged.
- Unverified/reverification-required paths are blocked by default; explicit
overrides are labelled unverified in export metadata.
- Instructions say “Print at 100% / Actual Size” and “disable Fit to Page.”
- Oversized content is never silently resized or clipped. Full-size tiled mode
preserves assembled dimensions and adds an overview, labels, 5–25 mm overlap,
alignment crosses, trim ticks, direction arrows, and per-page rulers.
Automated tests cover conversion constants, page selection, geometry bounds,
single-sheet oversize refusal, tiled coverage, PDF header generation, project
round-trips, repeated layout
stability, anisotropic correction, single application, profile switching, and
unverified override labelling.
Physical protocol
- Export the known calibration fixture.
- Print at Actual Size/100%; disable scaling and Fit to Page.
- Measure both the horizontal and vertical 100 mm rulers.
- Record printer model, driver/app, OS, paper, orientation, settings, and result.
- Pass only when the owner-approved tolerance is met consistently on the
intended printer set.

Physical validation is not complete until measured hardware evidence is
attached to the release ledger. A mathematically correct PDF is not proof of
physical output.
